W-1 PSI Visual Tank Inspector,

This practical course in the visual inspection of SCUBA cylinders prepares the graduate to professionally and thoroughly inspect breathing air cylinders. PSI training is internationally recognized by training agencies, manufacturers, the military services and by the courts as meeting the definition of "has been trained". Completion also satisfies the OSHA requirement for required hazardous material (LIAZMAT) training for all employees who fill, use or otherwise handle high pressure gas cylinders. W-2 DAN First Aid Course for Hazardous Marine Injuries,

Learn how to identify hazardous marine life and what to do if you or your buddy gets bitten, stung, poisoned or punctured! Everyone will take part in hand-on first aid training and real-life scenarios. Price includes workbook and DAN certification. PADI/NAUI certification available for additional $15 to be paid in class. W-3 Underwater Digital Camera Techniques,

This workshop will provide tips and tricks on using your new digital camera. When you take a digital camera underwater, it presents a whole new set of problems for the underwater photographer. Shutter delays, flash sync, short-lived batteries and digital film storage are just a few of the new concerns. This workshop will explore methods for taking digital pictures underwater and provide suggestions for improving your skills. Topics will include: topside and underwater techniques, digital card readers, resolution, white balance, lighting techniques, balancing flash, close-up and macro, image storage, and traveling with your digital camera system. W-4 The Basics of Underwater Video,
Larry and Denise Tackett, (Sussex room), 9-12

This workshop will introduce you to what is needed to shoot underwater video. Topics covered will include cameras, housing, lighting, accessories and basic shooting concepts, such as: shot types, wide-angle and macro, filters, white balance, exposure control, camera moves, and more. If you want to get started in u/w video or are already shooting but have not mastered the basics this workshop is for you. Cost $65. Limit 30


W-5 DAN Oxygen Provider,
Michael Emmerman & Pat Stockhausen, (Bergen room)) 1-4

Learn the basics of oxygen administration for dive accidents. Topics include the how’s and why’s of DCS, AGE and near-drownings, plus the benefits of demand and constant flow oxygen systems. Everyone will take part in hands-on training and real-life scenarios. Price includes workbook and DAN certification. W-6 Underwater Photography Made Simple,
Michel Gilbert &Danielle Alary, (Passaic room) 1-4

This 3-hour workshop will help any beginner or intermediate underwater photographer. Learn which equipment is best used in fish portrait, macro or wide-angle photography. Michel & Danielle will share with you their no-nonsense simple approach to underwater photography. Learn how to work with your strobes in manual mode by remembering 4 numbers. This workshop will explain the choices between film and digital photography. If you want a head start, this is the workshop to attend. A fresh look at a specialty by two seasoned pros who love to share their knowledge. Cost $65 Limit 30


W-7 Mastering Strobe Lighting Techniques,
Cathy Church, (Sussex room) 1-4

This workshop will cover strobe exposures for macro, zoom and wide-angle lenses. It will deal with strobe use for primary and balanced flash fill, for both film and digital systems. Other topics treated are creative lighting techniques and using multiple strobes. The workshop will include two short "Slide" shows and question and answer period. Anyone who brings their strobe will receive a free exposure chart customized for their digital or film camera. We will test any strobe that has a slave function or a Nikonos 5-pin cord attached so that we can flash it to measure its output. Cost $65. Limit 30

W-8 PSI Inspector Update,

This is a 3 hour workshop exclusively for personal previously trained as a PSI Visual Cylinder Inspector. The course is recommended for those whose last formal VCI training was 3 or more years ago and will meet OSHA and DOT update training requirements. Attendees MUST bring a copy of their PSI certificate showing their PSI Inspector Number. Cost $125. Limit 27


W-9 Making a Picture-The Next level in Photography,
Michel Gilbert & Danielle Alary, (Bergen room) 9-12

This workshop is aimed at those who want to get more out of their u/w photography and complements the speaker’s other workshop "Underwater Photography Made Simple". Digital or film-based, light is the image and this workshop is designed to help you work with light. In an accessible way, Michel & Danielle share their knowledge and experience to help you bring your photography to the next level, taking it beyond the snapshot world. They will explain how they work in the field and in their studio to maximize the "keepers" and keep post- processing at a manageable level. Cost $65. Limit 30


W-10 Advanced Digital Imaging,
Jack and Sue Drafahl, (Passaic room) 9-12

This workshop is designed to help underwater photographers who are familiar with Photoshop and is the perfect advanced course for previous attendees to our Digital Imaging workshops. We will show you how to improve your editing skills so you can speed up the editing process and still maintain quality. There will be tips on extreme salvage, masking techniques, advanced color correction, burning and dodging, and advanced layer techniques. We will also work in-depth with the levels editor and plug-in filters, white balance, lighting techniques, balancing flash, close-up and macro, image storage, and traveling with your digital camera system Cost $65. W-11 Drysuit Use, Maintenance and Repair,
Faith Ortins, (Sussex room) 9-12

This workshop is for the drysuit diver who wants to know more about the repair and manufacture of the product. We will have hands on instruction in repairs including the replacement of seals, cleaning of valves and leak testing suits in the field. Students are expected to bring a suit to work on, and all participants will receive a kit of tools, glues and parts for doing seal replacements. Divers will receive numerous tips on how to get more out of their drysuit and how to stay warmer and more comfortable in the water. This is a perfect seminar for the diver who wants to understand how things work and be able to fix problems in the field. Cost $175 Limit 12


W-12 PSI Eddy Current Technician Course,

Eddy current testing is designed to detect cracks in the neck area of aluminum cylinders. This 3-hour workshop provides manufacturer’s approved training of the operation of the Visual Plus and Visual Eddy instruments. As this training is an extension of basic PSI VCI training, attendees MUST bring a copy of their PSI certificate showing their inspector number. It is not required but recommended that attendees also bring their own equipment so they may train on their own instruments. Cost $125.Limit 27

W-14 Video Editing,

Editing is perhaps the most challenging and exciting aspect of video production. This is where you put together all those bits of video you shot to produce an entertaining, and maybe even educational, show that you can share with your friends, family, and the world. Editing can be a simple process of assembling your shots in a logical manner, or it can be a complex process that includes more advanced concepts. In this workshop we will introduce you to video editing. Topics covered will include: capturing video to your computer, edit types, continuity, audio, transitions, motion effects, compositing, titles, and how to finish your project (DVD, tape, web, etc.). W-15 First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries,

The First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries represents entry-level training designed to train and educate the general diving public and interested non-divers in the first aid techniques for a suspected hazardous marine life injury. In addition this course will introduce divers to the identification of potentially hazardous marine life and how to avoid hazardous marine injuries. This program also provides an excellent opportunity for experienced divers and instructors to continue their education. Cost $75 Limit 21
